Brits partner with music video giants Vevo

Online music video service Vevo has secured a deal to become the first ever dedicated online HD music video partner for the Brit Awards 2012.

Under the arrangement the site will stream live performances and exclusive backstage interviews from the event at London’s O2 Arena on February 21.

In the lead-up to the awards ceremony, Vevo will also offer music fans access to archive Brit performances from the previous two years on its site.

Vevo, which launched in the UK last April, is the world’s biggest music video website with thousands of videos online and on mobile smartphones. Its head of programming Tom Connaughton said, “The Brit Awards are the most talked about night of the UK music calendar, so we’re absolutely thrilled that Vevo is partnering with them for the very first time this year.

“We are all about championing great music, and this is the perfect opportunity for us to bring this amazing UK show to our Vevo audience. We’re proud to have been chosen by The Brits as their first dedicated online HD music video partner, and working alongside media partners like ITV we want to bring the magic of the awards to the fans, on demand.”

Brit Awards director of events, Maggie Crowe, said that Vevo is the “perfect online HD music video partner” for the event.

“The quality of the videos on Vevo and the sheer size of their audience is extraordinary and will undoubtedly attract more online fans to watch The Brits,” she said.

The Brit Awards 2012 will also be shown live on ITV1 next month. The full list of nominees was announced during a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on January 12.
